Welcome to Kindergarten!!
Hi! My name is Michele Salmins and I am the Kindergarten teacher here at St. Charles School in Burlington. This coming school year will be my 18th year teaching Kindergarten, and my 13th year teaching here at St. Charles. I am from West Allis, a suburb of Milwaukee, and live in Wind Lake with my husband Steve and our 5 year old Emma, who is also a student here at St. Charles in Mrs. Bartlett's PreK! During my free time, I enjoy reading, bike riding, gardening, and spending time with my family.
I love teaching Kindergarten! I believe that this is the perfect age to teach because the children are excited to participate and are usually willing to try new things, which makes learning exciting! It is my belief that children learn best by doing, through experimentation and practice. In my classroom, we have a set routine, which gives the children a sense of security and order. Children learn best by using all of their senses, and I try to gear my lessons to reach all types of learning styles. It is my hope that when a child moves on from my room, they are confident in their skills and believe that they can do anything they put their mind too, as long as they try their best!
